Moonshine is the term for whiskey distilled clandestinely in America during Prohibition. This practice took place at night, hence the name “moonlight,” to evade the police and hide the smoke generated during distillation. Ole Smoky pays homage to this American history by presenting its moonshine in glass jars, a tribute to the containers used by illegal distillers.
Main Features:
History and Origins: The Ole Smoky distillery is run by a family originally from the Appalachian Mountains, with a tradition of more than 100 years of underground moonshine production. After the ban, they moved in and became the first legal moonshine producer in the state of Tennessee. Located in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains in Gatlinburg, the distillery uses only local ingredients, pristine Tennessee waters and 100 percent fruit juice.
Method of Production: Also called “white dog” because of its transparent color, moonshine is simple to produce and does not require aging in barrels. It is bottled directly after distillation, maintaining the authenticity of the process.
Symbol of Freedom: Ole Smoky Moonshine Charred proudly features the winged wheel, an international symbol of centaurs, representing freedom, strength and boldness.
Tasting Notes: This moonshine celebrates travel with its unique character and bold taste, bringing with it the legacy and tradition of the American stowaway spirit. An experience worth savoring and sharing.
