Harvest Characteristics: The 2014 harvest was characterized by a three-tiered weather pattern with significant contrasts. After a splendid and dry spring, culminating in a warm June, summer has been cool and rainy. September was hot, sunny and very dry. The key to the success of this vintage lies in the soils and the careful work of the winemakers. The gypsum in the soils promoted drainage of excess summer water, helping to control the vigor of the vines.

Louis Roederer: Founded in Reims in 1776, the Maison Louis Roederer has remained a strictly family property, run today by the descendants of Louis Roederer. The house owns more than 243 hectares of vineyards, ranked between 95 percent and 100 percent on the cru quality scale, guaranteeing almost all grape requirements and giving the estate the title of “Champagne de propriétaire.”

Tasting Notes: Brilliant gold in color with green highlights, this Blanc de Blancs has a soft, regular and slow perlage. Aromas are pure, delicate and airy with nuances of flowers such as honeysuckle and jasmine, accompanied by hints of ripe citrus such as cedar. With aeration, notes of iodine emerge alongside sweeter pastry tones. On the palate, the wine is dense, finely spicy and invigorating. The attack is fresh and energetic with notes of citrus, dried fruit and Madagascar vanilla. The bubble gently dissolves, giving way to a chalky freshness and leading to a surprisingly dynamic finish with fine tannins and spicy tones.
