The Karlsmühle winery, located on the banks of the Ruwer, a tributary of the Moselle, is a multifaceted entity. Not only does it own a mill, although now inactive, and a hotel, but above all it is distinguished for its wine production. The Geiben family, which leads the company, has devoted impressive attention to this activity over the years.
The Ruwer lands are renowned for freshness, which is reflected in the wines produced: drier, savory labels that are never overly full. The Geiben family’s history dates back to the 19th century with the start of the mill, but their journey into the world of wine is equally significant. Guided by a passion for excellence, they have traveled a road paved with quality.
Riesling, predominant in the estate (90 percent), comes from several cru, including the two estate monopoles of Lorenzhöfer Feslay and Mäuerchen, contributing to a 12-hectare vineyard. In addition to Riesling, they grow 4 other varieties, which are turned into wine with the skillful hand of the winery’s winemaker, Sylvia.
Karlsmühle wines are characterized by marked savory and balsamic sensations, enhanced by fruity notes reminiscent of wild berries, particularly cassis. The range of wines reflects an unwavering commitment to quality and winemaking excellence, testifying to the tradition and craftsmanship of the Karlsmühle winery.
