Family Tradition and Wines of Excellence: Palmento Costanzo’s Etna Rosso Prefillossera is the result of a passion handed down from generation to generation. Founded in 2010 by Mimmo and Valeria Costanzo, the winery is the custodian of 14 hectares of land, ten of which are dedicated to native Sicilian grapes: nerello mascalese, nerello cappuccio, carricante and catarratto.

Unique Territory and Multisensory Label: Located at the foot of Mount Etna, the Palmento Costanzo winery embraces volcanic territory. In addition to the volcano icon, the multi-sensory label, made with a pigment extracted from Etna’s powder, joins the innovative packaging, conveying the history and beauty of the region.

Palmento Costanzo Etna Rosso Prefillossera 2020 – Characteristics:

• Color: Ruby red.
• Nose: Deep and rich with notes of red fruit, nuances of graphite, volcanic dust, and balsamic hints.
• Taste: Enveloping, with velvety tannins, imposing and long, with delicate and pleasantly savory finish.

Unique Terroir – Contrada Santo Spirito, Passopisciaro, Etna:

• Higher terraces | northern exposure.
• Grapes: 90% Nerello Mascalese – 10% Nerello Cappuccio. 1910 vineyard.
• Altitude: 700-800 meters above sea level.
• Soil: Black and brown volcanic sands 60-70%; boulders and effusive rocks.
• Training system: Sapling supported by chestnut poles. Centennial plants.

Vinification and Aging:

• Harvest: Manual with selection on plant, mid-October.
• Vinification: Prolonged maceration in 5hl rotary barrels and large wood.
• Aging: In wood for 24 months.

Sensory Experience and Alcoholic Gradation:

• Tasting: The wine has a ruby red color. On the nose, it offers depth and richness with notes of red fruit, graphite, volcanic dust and balsamic undertones. In the mouth, it is enveloping, with velvety tannins, impressive structure and a delicate, savory finish.
• Alcohol content: 14% vol.
• Serving temperature: 18-20°C.
